It’s pretty funny actually. I think I got it from my friend Ana! During these tough economical times things just started getting extra pricy and we were broke high school students…soon to be college students. So we would do like inexpensive activities and go to fast food places for lunch. Speaking of anything expensive like a dine-in restaurant or going out to the movies or any activity that spends a lot of money [according to our standards] and we would respond with “we is in a recession.” Also we seemed to be fascinated with ebonics and that whole bon qui qui phase, so we thought it was hilarious to be ghetto like that.
